Tri-City BaseballProudly serving a number of northeastern communities in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area of Minnesota (Arden Hills, Columbia Heights, Mounds View, New Brighton, North Oaks, St. Anthony, Shoreview, and portions of Roseville and Vadnais Heights), the Tri-City Baseball program provides a platform for today's youth to not only develop their athletic abilities, but their leadership, teamwork and sportsmanship skills. Through the devoted efforts of many players, coaches, parents, Legionnaires, fans, and community supporters, Tri-City has built a premier baseball program, recognized across the State of Minnesota and the United States for its superior results -- both on and off the field. Although demanding and requiring a high sense of team commitment, the program returns a wealth of rewards and growth experiences to participants and fans alike -- most of all, the strong sense of community pride that accompanies hard work and group achievement. As such, the pursuit of excellence has truly become a tradition within Tri-City baseball, which ensures a strong program for the youth of tomorrow, as well as today's.

It is with great sadness I report that Elmer Buttweiler -- the "father" of Tri-City Baseball -- passed away peacefully at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2007, at Unity Hospital, in the company of those who loved him, after a brief, courageous battle with cancer and a series of strokes.
While his "baseball family" mourns his passing tremendously, and we know that no future season will quite be the same without him, please join me in wishing Elmer a safe journey, as he makes his way to the grand baseball diamond that awaits him -- and thanking him for everything he's done for all those who have played in the programs with which he's been involved.
GailElmer's obituary. Poem presented to Elmer on October 9, 1997 during banquet honoring his service as baseball program General Manager.
