2016 Minnesota Division I State Tournament - General Info, Dates & Sites:

The 2016 Division I Minnesota State
American Legion Baseball Championship Tournament
is being hosted by Delano, Friday, July 29th through Monday, August 1st.


 



TEAM CHECK-IN
will take place on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at the the following location:

Delano American Legion Post 377
200 Babcock Boulevard West
Delano, MN 55328
Located on the NE corner of Bridge Avenue West
& Babcock Boulevard West (Highway 12 W)

NOTE: Although team check-in begins at NOON, each participating team has an assigned check-in time, assigned by the State Director.

Members of the State American Legion Baseball Committee and the Delano Host Commitee will be present at the main entrance to help direct teams to the correct designated areas. Players and coaches are to be uniformed at check-in, as team photographs will be taken at that time. (Teams needing a place to change before check-in will be directed to an area within the Post building that may be used for such.)

Information on ordering team photos will be provided to teams by the Delano Host Committee during check-in. Photos may also be ordered after the tournament, by contacting the tournament photographer directly. TEAM PHOTO ORDER FORM.



OPENING CEREMONIES
will then take place at the Delano Municipal Field. It is, therefore, imporant that teams depart the Delano Post, immediately following their individual check-in process:

2:00 p.m: Teams Assemble for Opening Ceremony
2:10 p.m: Opening Ceremony
2:50 p.m: Team warm-ups for Skills Competitions
3:00 p.m: "Around the Horn" Skills Competition for Participating Teams
4:00 p.m: Home Run Derby
5:00 p.m: Conclusion of Events at the Field

Following on-field activities, teams that need to shower and/or change into banquet attire may use
the locker rooms within the
Tiger Activity Center at Delano High School, 700 Elm Avenue, Delano, MN 55328, 763-972-3365 x 2129.
NOTE: Any players using the showers must furnish / bring their own towel.
(Host Committee personnel and/or signage will direct teams to the applicable area with the facility..)




THE ANNUAL TOURNAMENT BANQUET
will be held that evening (Thursday, July 28th) at the following location:

Tiger Activity Center
(at Delano High School)
700 Elm Avenue, Delano, MN 55328

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. (social hour), with dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m., and program to follow. The keynote speaker will be Mike Max of WCCO and the Master of Ceremonies for the event will be Dick Jonckowski, University of Minnesota public address announcer. (Participating players and coaches must wear attire that is suitable for this semi-formal event -- dress shirt, dress shirt, socks and shoes.).

All registered players in attendance (and up to 2 coaches) will be provided with tickets to the banquet by the Delano Host Committee during team check-in. Tickets for additional team coaches, staff / personnel, must be purchased at the door, as outlined below.

Parents, family, friends and members of the general public are also welcome to attend the banquet. The cost is $25 per person. Tickets will be sold at the door (cash / checks only - no credit cards accepted), from 5:00-6:00 p.m. (There are no advance ticket sales -- at the door only.)

Qualifying teams will receive specific information pertaining to their lodging accomodations, following completion of their Sub-State Playoff Tournament. Additional information will also be furnished during the team check-in process.

NOTE: Parents, friends, and fans who wish to lodge in the Delano area should explore options in the Buffalo area -- or towards the western suburbs of the Twin Cities, because the entire Grand Stay Hotel is reserved for participating teams and tournament staff.

2016 Regional Championship Tournament

The 2016 Central Plains Regional American Legion Tournament will be held as follows:

Central Plains: Bismarck, ND Wednesday, 8/3/16 - Sunday, 8/7/16
Note: Under National's new Regional configuration, which went into effect in 2011, both the MN State Champ and the MN State Runner-up will compete in the Central Plains Regional in 2016.
Teams report on Tuesday, August 2nd.

2016 World Series National Championship Tournament

The 2016 (90th) American Legion World Series will be held in Shelby, NC on
Thursday August 11, 2016 through Tuesday, August 16, 2016 (games played; pool play).
Teams report Tuesday, August 9th; concert / events held on Wed., August 10th.

Division I 2016 Sub-State Playoff Info & Results:

Beginning in 2013, while all teams continue to belong to, and compete in, their respective District Leagues, instead of participating in Sub/District playoff tournaments within each District, Division I teams were assigned to one of 15 Sub-State Playoff Tournaments being held around the state. Each Sub-State Playoff Tournament Champion earns a berth in the 16-team Division I State Tournament; the State Tournament Host also receives a berth -- rounding out the field to 16 teams. Game scores and info on each of the playoff tournaments is available, as follows:
