Participation in the Tri-City Red American Legion Baseball program requires a high sense of commitment and can be very demanding -- but it offers a wealth of rewards, as well as opportunities to grow and have fun. For players who take their baseball play seriously, who are sincerely interested in building a strong sense of camaraderie with players across school boundaries, and who are driven to achieve excellence and success in team play, this is the program. For parents who want to help fulfill their sons' goals in the great game of baseball, who are willing to reinforce the need for hard work -- both for individual and team benefit, who are willing to foster an attitude of maturity and sportmanship both on and off the field, and who are committed to supporting their sons' participation in a program that can be can be physically and mentally taxing, as well as demanding a great deal of time, this is the program. Because of these kinds of demands, while younger players are eligible to try-out and join the team, it is more common for more mature players (age 17+) to participate on the Tri-City Red team.
Under National American Legion Baseball Rules --
For 2007, only those born on or after January 1, 1988 are eligible. (Refer to the Rules Section of the National American Legion website for additional information.)
A player must reside within Tri-City Red's recruiting zone, which is Mounds View School Distrtict #621, regardless if he attends school at a District #621 school or not. (For a map of the school district, take this link to Mounds View School District #621's web site.)
Residence is generally determined as of March 31st of that year's season of play. The player's legal residence is defined as his parents' or permanent court-appointed guardian's permanent and legal residence. Special circumstances apply if the player's parents are divorced or legally separated, with one parent living within the zone and the other not. If a player lives within Tri-City Red's recruiting zone, but wishes to play for a team in another zone, the player must be waived to the adjacent zone by Tri-City Red.
